Fairfield County, Connecticut is one of the most affluent areas in the United States, however in the middle of all this abundance, the city of Bridgeport is one of the poorest cities in the nation. There are many poor and hungry families here that must rely on the generosity of others for food, clothing and household furnishings. 

The Daughters of Charity is a “grass-roots” rescue mission that ministers directly to the needy people within the Bridgeport community, regardless of race, color or religion. 

Sister Theresa Tremblay directs our accredited day care pre-school, food pantry and a furniture bank. We minister directly to the needy people within the Bridgeport community. Our day care pre-school cares for children on scholarship or at very minimal fees so that their parents can hold jobs. As members of the Connecticut Food Bank network, we provide weekly food distribution to hungry families.
